THE POST-GRAD ARTIST ACCELERATOR: From Student to Professional Artist in 8 Weeks

Dear Art School Graduate,

Congratulations on completing art school! Now what?

Art school taught you technical skills and theory, but left out the most crucial lesson: how to build a sustainable art practice in the real world.

The Art School to Real World Gap

In school, you had:

  • Dedicated studio space

  • Built-in community

  • Regular critique

  • Clear deadlines

  • Structured schedules

Now, you're facing:

  • Limited time and resources

  • No built-in accountability

  • Financial pressures

  • Lack of structure

  • Isolation from creative community

I've been there. After graduation, I went from working 14 hours daily in a studio to working in a tiny bedroom and scrambling to make ends meet. My art practice felt impossible to maintain.

Then I completely changed everything.

Introducing: The Post-Grad Artist Accelerator

This 3-part online cohort teaches you how to build a sustainable, focused art practice that thrives in the real world. No more waiting for "someday" when you'll have more time, space, or resources.

You'll learn:

  • The OLE Framework: Focus on ONE thing, embrace LIMITATIONS, and ELIMINATE distractions

  • The HAT Framework: Build productive HABITS, control your ATTENTION, and maximize your TIME

  • The FLEX Framework: Create a flexible studio and mindset that adapts to change

Unlike conventional art career advice that tells you to "just keep making," this program gives you practical systems for building momentum while balancing real-world responsibilities.

What Recent Students Are Saying:

"I learned so much from this course and would strongly recommend it to anyone hoping to deepen and build their art practice and balance it with the demands of life.." - Molly S.

“I think of Colin as my art coach. This course, which is more that a course, but a community of artists developing our work together as a cohort, did so much to help me get organized for a big project I was planning.” - Marc T.

“Structure & Focus = Game Changer! Colin presents a structured and functional approach to taming the chaos of being an artist.” Karoline C.

Who Am I?

I'm Colin Matthes, a professional artist who has successfully balanced a thriving art career with teaching and family responsibilities for over 20 years. My work has been exhibited in galleries internationally, including shows in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Dublin, and Berlin, exhibiting alongside notable artists including David Shrigley, Liana Finck, and Nedko Solakov. My work is in many public and private collections including Harvard, Stanford, and UCONN.

After struggling to maintain my own art practice while juggling a full-time job and raising children, I developed systematic approaches that transformed my productivity and creative output. By applying the frameworks I'll teach you, I transformed the limited time between responsibilities into my most productive period, creating over 100 works in my Essential Knowledge series.

I taught at the university level for over a decade and mentored hundreds of emerging artists through previous courses and workshops. My practical, systems-based approach has helped artists at all career stages build sustainable practices that thrive despite real-world constraints.

I will combine professional art experience, teaching expertise, and proven frameworks to guide you through this critical transition period in your art career.

Looking forward to speaking with you,

Colin Matthes
